Kat Foxhall Printmaking
I make original etchings, often taking inspiration from the weather and the natural world around the beautiful Vale of White Horse where I live with my family.

I am a member of the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative and mainly create etchings with zinc and copper plates. This is where a design is etched onto the metal, usually using acids, and then each print is hand-wound through a press. I love the different processes involved in turning a sheet of bare metal into a beautiful design - full of lines, shade and texture.

I grew up in rural Devon, where I spent hours exploring the old arsenic and copper mines of the Tamar Valley, drawing, making sculptures out of leaves, and taking photographs. After university, I took evening classes in ceramics and printmaking in my spare time. Having spent 15 years in a career as a historian I now juggle my time between printmaking, my children, being a local councillor, slowly renovating our thatched chalkstone cottage.
